Award honors distinguished contributions to the surface chemistry field
Northwestern Chemistry faculty member Mark Hersam has been selected to receive the 2027 American Chemical Society Award in Surface Chemistry, recognizing distinguished research and service in the field. Hersam’s research focuses on nanomaterials, including atomically thin materials, carbon nanotubes and graphene, with an emphasis on controlling surface properties to enable applications in electronics, energy storage, sensing and other advanced technologies. He will be formally recognized at the ACS Spring 2027 meeting in New Orleans next March.
