Shah Alam

Associate Director of Financial Administration

BIOGRAPHY:

Shah supports the Department of Chemistry’s financial and administrative functions, contributing to the stewardship of resources that enable cutting-edge research, innovative education, and the advancement of the University’s academic mission.

Prior to joining Northwestern University, Shah served as a Regional Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis at Covenant Living Communities & Services, where he led financial strategy and performance oversight across a multi-state portfolio. He previously spent more than a decade at Endeavor Health (formerly NorthShore University Health System), where he supported hospital, medical group, and research operations, including financial modeling for federally funded grants, clinical programs, and long-range strategic initiatives.

Shah began his career at Northern Trust, managing and analyzing large-scale investment portfolios. He holds an MBA from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce (Finance) from DePaul University.

Outside of work, Shah is highly active in athletics and enjoys staying competitive through sports. He currently participates in three different leagues, playing flag football, basketball, and baseball—something he values as both a physical outlet and a way to stay connected with his community.

A proud Chicago native, Shah is also a passionate sports fan who closely follows the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and Chicago Cubs—and, in true Chicago fashion, enthusiastically supports whoever is playing against the Chicago White Sox.

He is also a proud father to his one-year-old son and enjoys spending quality time with his family, especially exploring local museums and creating meaningful memories with his wife and child.
