Northwestern to lead Midwestern carbon-capture hub
May 2, 2024
Northwestern University is spearheading the Midwest Nuclear Direct Air Capture Hub (MINDAC), funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Administered by the Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy, this initiative brings together diverse institutions to investigate using a zero-emission nuclear fleet to power CO2 removal from the atmosphere. Chemistry Department faculty Ted Sargent and Omar Farha join as co-principal investigators in this initiative to build a carbon capture hub in the Midwest.
