Novel recycling process gives old plastics new life

Polyurethane plastics are found in everything from mattress covers to shoes. Mass consumption often litters landfills and oceans when no longer in use.

Recently published research from Will Dichtel and other researchers at Northwestern University Department of Chemistry demonstratesways to use greener catalysts to break down and rebuild polyurethane to make new foam.
