Sugar-based catalyst upcycles carbon dioxide
May 2, 2024
A novel catalyst, derived from an affordable metal and ordinary table sugar, holds promise as a solution for utilizing captured carbon. In a recent study led by the Farha Group, this catalyst effectively converted CO2 into carbon monoxide (CO), a vital precursor for various chemical products. Moreover, in the presence of hydrogen, the reaction yields synthesis gas (syngas), a valuable fuel precursor.
