Silverman and Marks honored at 2017 American Chemical Society's Spring Meeting

Tobin J. Marks and Richard B. Silverman were honored with national awards by the American Chemical Society at the 2017 Spring Meeting. Marks received the 2017 Priestley Medal for his “dedicated service to the chemistry enterprise and pioneering research in catalytic polymerization, organometallic chemistry, organic opto-electronic materials and electronically functional metal oxides.” Silverman received the ACS Award for Creative Invention, citing his fundamental enzyme inhibitor work resulting in his invention of pregabalin, also known as the drug Lyrica, marketed by Pfizer for fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, spinal cord injury pain and epilepsy.
