Staff Spotlights: Carissa Madrid

Where are you from, and where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Chicago.
Tells us more about your career path at Northwestern University, when did you start?
I started working as a temp at Feinberg in Pulmonary and Critical Care under the Department of Medicine in November 2018. I had a stint in Thoracic Surgery and OB/GYN before becoming permanent with Chemistry.
Before working at Northwestern, what was the most unusual or interesting job you have ever had?
The most interesting job I had was in Langhe Italy giving wine tastings to tourists.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I would want to be a tour guide somewhere in Europe.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would want to meet James Joyce to talk about his use of language and what made him think of ways of changing it.
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
My favorite vacation spot would be Torino, Italy because I get to see my family and friends.
What is your favorite pastime?
Going to the roller rink.
