State-of-the-Department Address

The State-of-the-Department Address is an annual event held to recap another excellent year of accomplishments by our world-class faculty, staff, students and researchers. During our first opportunity to gather in two years, Professor Odom shared key insights from the 2021-22 academic year celebrating achieved goals and strategically focusing on the bright future of the Department. 

Investiture Ceremonies

Congratulations to Professors Omar Farha and Franz Geiger, who were both recently honored with endowed professorships during their respective WCAS Investiture Ceremony of Named Chairholders. Both professors were awarded the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor in Chemistry.  

The Marple-Schweitzer Lecture

The Marple-Schweitzer lecture series is sponsored by the Phi Lambda Upsilon Honorary Chemical Society. The lecture topics serve to demonstrate the timely and creative aspects of chemical research in hopes of attracting more undergraduates into chemistry. This year Northwestern PLU brought in Paul J. Dauenhauer from the University of Minnesota who spoke on An Introduction to Programmable Chemistry.

2022 Chemistry Graduation

On June 12, the Department held a celebration in Silverman Hall following the graduation ceremony at Ryan Field. This event allowed friends and family to join together to celebrate all graduating students. Many members of our Faculty and Staff were also in attendance to recognize and award our students with well-deserved praise for their hard work.
